HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO CLEAN MY FLOOR GULLY?
Your floor gully should be cleaned regularly, at least twice per year, in order for it to perform optimally. The frequency of cleaning depends on how often the floor gully is used and how dirty the water is. If the water does not flow as it should, this is clear sign that cleaning is needed.

CAN I CLEAN MY FLOOR GULLY MYSELF?
Yes, certainly. All Purus floor gullies have removable water trap inserts which are easy to clean. Be careful with tools and do not remove the clamping ring from its place. Remember to grease the gasket of the water trap, e.g. with washing-up liquid or soap before replacing it.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY FLOOR GULLY?
Clean the floor gully with a bactericidal agent (e.g. dishwasher detergent) and then flush thoroughly. Tip: flush the gully with cold water for five seconds after every shower, in order to flush the water trap clean and lower the temperature. If the water trap has a removable inner cup, for e.g. the water trap in plastic Ran, do not take the water trap apart but flush it under water to reduce the risk of the cup sticking to the gasket.

WHAT PROCEDURES SHOULD I USE TO MAINTAIN GOOD HYGIENE IN THE FLOOR GULLY?
Inspect the water trap in your floor gully regularly and flush it clean of hair and soap residues.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THE FLOOR GULLY SMELLS UNPLEASANT?
The probable cause is that the water in the water trap in the floor gully has dried out. If you have a floor gully from Purus manufactured in 1991 or later, you can in most cases obtain a NOOD water trap insert. NOOD is an odour trap which does not emit any odour even if it dries out, while at the same time functioning as a backwater trap.

Make sure, too, that there is water in the water trap. If the floor gully has not been cleaned recently, soap residues etc. can collect and contribute to unpleasant odours.
