At Purus International, we believe in investing in the talent of tomorrow. Samson Bäckström is one of our latest examples of how early opportunities can help lay the foundation for a future career in sales and international trade.
For the past year, Samson has been a trainee at Purus Export team in Ystad. Alongside his studies on the Business and Service Management programme, he has had the opportunity to work in an international environment and gain valuable experience for the future.
When Samson started upper secondary school and began looking for a work placement for the following three academic years, Purus was already on his radar.
“I had always had it in the back of my mind that Purus is a company that seemed interesting. I got in touch with Niklas Jönsson, manager at the Export Department, and we met up. After our conversation, we both agreed that Purus would be a great place for me to do my placement,” says Samson.
During his time with the company, Samson has gained many valuable lessons. In addition to practical skills, he hopes to continue developing his personal abilities, particularly when it comes to communication and professional relationships.
“A great customer experience has always been a priority for me. I believe in treating people with respect, listening carefully, and maintaining a positive attitude creates trust and helps resolve situations effectively. During this placement, I look forward to further strengthening these skills while continuing to build my experience and contribute wherever I can”.
Today, Samson mainly works with administrative tasks, including responding to emails, handling enquiries, and helping to solve customer issues. He has also represented Purus at customer events and trade fairs, gaining valuable insight into both the industry and our customers’ needs.
“One of the things I enjoy most is getting in touch with so many friendly customers from different countries. Every day brings new questions, new challenges and new things to learn, which makes the job both exciting and rewarding,“ says Samson.
